Allen & Heath iLive Digital Mixing Consoles
07 Apr 2010
Alongside the latest additions of Logic Systems and MC2 The Audio Group has also added two Allen & Heath iLive Digital Mixing Consoles.
The choice to go Digital and therefore down the ‘Allen & Heath path’ was the decision of The Audio Group’s technical director Nadar Shazhad.
“The iLive puts the audio processing right where it is needed - on or near the stage and the DSP is in the Mix- Rack, keeping latency to a minimum and giving you the freedom to choose how you control the mix” says Nadar.
iLive provides comprehensive on-board signal and FX processing, so there is no need for expensive and heavy outboard equipment racks. This not only saves space, but reduces preparation time and cuts back overheads too!
Bulky and expensive multicores are a thing of the past, as cabling between the console and Mix-Rack is CAT5.
Full processing is available all the time. Each of the 64 input channels has a gate, parametric EQ, compressor, limiter/de-esser and delay, while all 32 mix outputs have a 1/3 octave graphic EQ, parametric EQ, compressor, limiter and delay.
Complete set-ups can be stored in the console and saved to a USB key, so adapting to different venues, applications, and artists has never been easier. All parameters can be saved, updated, and recalled, so engineers can carry their settings and libraries with them - saving precious time at the gig.
Nadar adds “’The path’ almost chose itself! - after using and testing most of the digital consoles that are available on the market the iLive came out on top in nearly all the tests that we put the desk through”
Nadar followed with “…….to us the most important thing is the ease at which an engineer can use and learn the desk. The Allen & Heath has the most user friendly platform by a country mile, and its touch screen is learnt by most in minutes………of course the true acid test is the way it sounds!!”
